What is an MRI?

MRI stands for “magnetic resonance imaging,” and has been used since 1977. It is a non-invasive imaging technique used to visualize internal structure and function in the body. These high-quality images are created using radio frequency and a powerful magnetic field. MRI scans identify different types of tissue and create detailed pictures of soft tissue, bone, and blood flow.
